Cold Thirst Insights

ree

Since 2012 when I began observing the human design patterns in people I met, there was a distinct characteristic seen in Cold Thirst digestion people. I was in a communal kitchen early one morning while visiting a friend at the intentional community he lived in. There was a young woman spoon-feeding oatmeal to a super rosy cheeked infant. Each spoonful she accepted, was soon spat out onto the table in front. This happened every single time. I had a suspicion about her HD digestion and asked if the exact birth data was known and if they would be interested in learning the HD pattern of eating— both parents agreed. Lo! She was Cold Thirst and needed all food and liquid at room temperature or cooler. This amazed the couple as they admitted the child will want to eat the oatmeal later on, only after it has sat out long enough to develop a hard crust on top.

The dominant culture and eastern thought on food assimilation is rooted in consuming warm or hot foods and it's a one-size-fits-all solution. This stems from the understanding that the spleen acts like a bunsen burner under the stomach, helping to heat the acids that will begin to break down the food. But, food digestion starts in the mouth actually and it happens to be the most important step in the whole process. Saliva is produced as the chewing begins and the longer we chew, the more saliva begins to produce food-digesting enzymes. Most humans are conditioned to eat fast but if we can chew each bite 26–50 times ( depending on what was being consumed ) our nutrient up-take would increase significantly. So much so that we will feel energized and uplifted immediately after each meal. That is how food is suppose to make us feel and honoring your Human Design Digestion ( called PHS ) is a great help to get their sooner. Our goal with this platform is to offer FREE information here and community supported experience sharing on Facebook to help parents step outside of the box around mealtime.

Recently I observed these same traits in an early 20s wwoofer who came to stay on our farm for 5 days. Her cheeks flushed quickly, a characteristic she grew up disliking. Any sort of work we did, even just walking, her cheeks would light up and very red. Her PHS turned out to be Cold Thirst. She admitted to preferring colder things, but was worried it wasn't good for her because Traditional Chinese Medicine warns against consuming cool foods and liquids for reasons stated above. So why wouldn't this apply to Cold Thirst folks?

People with Cold Thirst digestion have a higher body temperature more often than not— they run hot. You can over cook the nutrients from food and for optimal digestion, only consuming room-temp foods and liquids is optimal because the stomach is already warmer than most humans. Following this way of consuming allows for greater mineral absorption and for children, greater brain development. This is why I am writing this, to help you to feed your children for advanced cognition grown, the world needs more intelligent and healthy humans and it starts with the mother.
